Mat's songs are so inspirational especially when you are going through tough times. He pretty confirms that God will always be there to help us. I especially love the part he says " We all need forgiveness " so true. Has anyone else noticed he uses the same phrases in most of his songs. Like having our backs up against the wall/waiting for a call that never comes..etc I think its pretty cool. |

I think this song is about a childhood/early adulthood friend. The friend & mat might have been misguided youths at some point with no direction. Sounds like they lived together for a while trying to find themselves until one of them grew out of it or left. Years later he either gets a call from him or about him. He still wonders about his friend when he is driving alone at night & prays for him that one day he'll figure himself out. They clearly aren't in touch anymore but Mat still keeps him in his prayers. |
