I think this song is about someone who a dreamer and everyone is trying to give them advice and kind of real them in. Everyone is moving on and doing practical things and he is still dreaming over reaching for the stars. I think when he says, "oh my brother, your wisdom is all that I need," he is being sarcastic. Saying -- dont worry about me, im happy doing what I'm doing. "How's that bricklayin' coming How's your engine running Is that bridge getting built Are your hands getting filled Won't you tell me my brother 'Cause there are stars up above We can start moving forward" I think he is saying, how is the practical life working out for you? Because we can still reach for the stars. Basically -- i think this is about continuing to dream even when everyone around you is telling you it won't happen and giving in doing the norm... 9-5, wife and kids, middle-class thing. |

| I think this song is about two friends almost ruining their friendship over a girl who eventually screws them both over. She is too beautiful to resist and one takes her from the other, but even though that should make him hate his friend for doing that -- friendship prevails. | |
