People usually asume this song is about a failed romantic relationship, but I think that it is about any failed relationship. I, for one, could relate to it in two different situations that had a profound effect on me. When my parents finally got divorced, I had to chose one parent, but my heart was too confused to have made the ultimate decision. I felt like they enjoyed hurting each other. A few years later, I found a friend who, I thought, was great. Unfortunately, something happened and that hurt me so much. Despite the fact that she was hurting me, I was still very fond of her and felt empty without her. I wanted to let my mind win, but my heart was telling me to stay. |

This song is about mental absence, rather than physical. It reminds me of a good friend who changed for the worse and forgot about everything we had experienced for the last 2 years. I do realize people evolve, but he's changed drastically. How I wish you here..... |

My interpretation is about the school system. School and education are two different things, respectively polar opposites. Whilst school is obeying, education is about thinking for yourself. |

I love this song. It's really catchy, definately one of my favorites by The Black Keys. Anyway, I think it's about someone you see and can't them out of your head. |
