| @[Ulkesh:45107] Maybe at that line we come back with the idea of him being a Shriner who refuses to do anything without the Fez, even sex. | |

| Greg Lake dialogs with his Muse. Not the "romantic" one, the artistical one. The one who illuminates the real creators like him. He kind of acknoleges he should have listened more to inspiritings, from the beggining. | |

| @piper_@_the_gates_ Well, now it's been some 12 years since you wrote it. Maybe you're a grown up by now, and it would be fine to seeif you still think like you did. | |

| Was this one written by Jim Capaldi? Well, I woonder if Steve Winwoon can figure out the meaning of most Capaldi's lyrics. | |
| David Bowie – Loving the Alien Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| It's Bowie just after turning into Masonry. The tales about Templars bearing Richard's ("coeur de leon") cross, riding the Santiago de Compostela path are one of Masons impassionating themes, as well as slightly cynical views about religion. | |

| @[gdawg31:862] That's because this is not a "song for the masses". It was meant to be tasted and best understood through the passing of time. And on top of it, most of the people is thinking about less and less. | |
| Dire Straits – Your Latest Trick Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Folks, this song is about the ANIMA, which is the "female portion of the man". The singer is surprised by her "visit" at the wee hours, after he did his gig and went home. The reference about "whores" may come from an ancient definition of the Anima as being the "sacred prostitute", in opposition of the "profane prostitute". Today the Anima is studied more as an Jungian archetype. Anyway, she comes to him out of the blue, to the point he asks if she's got "a key made out of wax"... he didn't realize she's not coming from outside, she is inside him by nature.... it all takes place so quick, faster than the eye could flick. And there's nothing he can do. She has "visited" him before, he still didn't figure out how, so he believes "she" has tricks to get to him. As men, we are not completely open to "let live" our female part, so there's the impression that the "visitor" can't use all of our "keys". The Anima may appear by chance, or when we are on an altered state of mind, like exhausted or intoxicated (the bottle is empty and there's nothing left). Sometimes this character is confused with the muse. This is one of the greatest songs from de 80s, I love it since it was released on "Brothers in Arms", it took the longest time for me to realize its meaning, but I think I did. (sorry if I mistook some words, English is not my native language). |
