Iron Maiden – Out of the Shadows Lyrics 11 years ago
Everyone can have a different interpretation, that's what a song is for. Even if the artist wrote itmwith one meaning in mind, everyones opinion and individual feeling about a song is what makes it special.

I partly agree with the majority. Birth and rebirth. I think the first part of the song shows a person being born, everything being white and clean. He is the king for a day and nothing can harm him.

Next the chorus tells us how this person enters a whole new, different world than before. He sees the war and hate and pain.
He "dreams of the past" longing to be young and free of hate and worry again.

Next our person lives in this world of constant rush and hate, nothing changes, nothing makes any greater difference, what's the point? The inspiring dreams he had are flickering away as he grows older. Death seems so comforting now, away from this pointless life, but he pulled though it, a good person in the end, sure he has his shadows, but no man is perfect.

Then comes the chorus; the man is once more leaving this world and entering a new one. Maybe heaven, maybe another life all in itself. I'd think heaven because no one really wants to endure this life only to be born again.

I absolutely love this song, every part of it is perfect, from the vocals to the amazing solos. I'm surprised there are so few comments.

Iron Maiden – The Prophecy Lyrics 11 years ago
I just came here to comment the amazing outro. It's just perfect, a quiet, peaceful melody after the apparent disaster. I always visualize a post-apocalyptic scenario, but a quiet gentle wind blowing. I want this outro playing at my funeral.
