I wasn't certain at first if I'd agreed with your assessment. It seemed like a very long leap. After having read your entire explanation it's obvious that you've put a lot of thought into your version of these events. I like that. I respect that. I believe firmly that one song or one poem or even one short story could have several meanings. One for the author; and one for each of the readers. Your version wasn't the closest to mine, but yours will be the only 'songmeaning' comment I respond to. Also, you've dramatically changed how I feel about the song. I like the idea of myself portraying the Winter waiting on the next summer to devour. Thanks for that. |

I've just been turned on to future islands. I saw them on Jools Holland recently and downloaded about 8 songs to get a feel. I like each one; a lot. I had heard something different before reading the lyrics. I thought it was "just cause you needed a high". I'd figured she had to cheat because she was sick and NEEDED a high. I guess we all hear different things. Still like the song though |
