| Tonetta – Drugs Drugs Drugs Lyrics | 11 years ago |

If you ask me, this song is about someone who is addicted to drugs, rather than just someone who enjoys them. Notice the lazy, laid back tone to the song. The voice of the song is happy because he is in a drug-induced stupor. However, notice the lines, "I'm not going insane But i will without cocaine" and "I need a fix And I need it now Put me to sleep It's the only way how." The first is an obvious signal of addiction, and the second is dependency. He needs drugs to take him away from reality and "put him to sleep." His addiction is also signaled through the lines "I'm happy taking drugs Don't take em away from me" Clearly, he feels that he needs his drugs to be "happy," and having them taken away means the end of this euphoria. Not to mention, the line is immediately followed by "I'm happy feeling free." When put all together, it reads/is heard as "I need a fix/And I need it now/Put me to sleep/It's the only way how/I'm happy feeling free." He can't feel happy without drugs. This song may seem comical and lighthearted at a glance, but I find it to be sad. |
