| David Gray – The One I Love Lyrics | 11 years ago |

The lyrics for this song require some 'northern Brit accent' translation to get them right. We know Gray has written and sung with his northern accent because he uses the word 'amongst', which we don't really use in North America - we just use 'among'. So here goes: 'the staws above' ... staws = stars. 'an ocean raw' ... raw = roar. And most importantly, based on the above: 'tell the reapaw-man' ... reapaw = reaper. Why would a dying man care to tell a repo-man about his love? He wouldn't. He's telling the reaper-man (the dark side) and the stars above (the light side) in order to cover all bases because he's not sure which way he'll be going. The dark versus light is also referenced with Elysium versus fiery hell. Beautiful lyrics. |
