Can – Mushroom Lyrics 10 years ago
@[futatorius:2181] Although your lyrics make sense, there is a pretty hard "g" sound after "gonna" that makes it unlikely that he was saying "end". It sounds almost like "I'm gonna get my despair". Not that Damo's mumbling English is reliable in any way.

Can – Future Days Lyrics 10 years ago
Since it's not grammatical English, I think Damo took literal Japanese and tried to turn it into English words. Since his voice sounds like a shortwave recording, I don't think we should expect meaning.

John Foxx – Endlessly Lyrics 11 years ago
The last line is purposely the same as the first. That tells me he blew it. The pair never moved towards each other endlessly except in his fantasy. He ignores his friend's encouragement to talk to her and his mind suddenly wanders off to typical disconnected John Foxx themes: summer, sunlight, a random face. While he's daydreaming, the woman leaves yet he's convinced they'll inevitably be drawn together. Once again, Foxx has told us of a passive observer who sees things in powerful romantic visions but never does anything romantic!

John Foxx – The Garden Lyrics 11 years ago
The song progresses from "We" to "she" to "I", all in present tense even though we know the first two verses (or all three) are in the past. The first verse is happiness of a relationship that sounds real. The second is disconnection from the woman, describing her in idealistic visions and not as a person. The third verse pretends to address her directly but doesn't really. He sees her but most likely he's talking to himself since he doesn't expect a response. The short song hits many of Foxx's favorite themes: summer, golden and silver light, fragments of relationships, and observations instead of actions. Foxx's lyrics are usually a helpless observer unable to interact with what they're seeing.
