Well, if that's true, OK. But I doubt that even .01% of us that grew up with that music knew that. I think we all thought Miss Molly was a chick that loved to 'dance up a storm' at a place called The House Of Blue Lights. There was even a song back in that time called 'The House Of Blue Lights' that was describing a dance club that served good bar b cue ribs if memory serves me correctly. In fact, we used to have such a named club here in the Tulsa, Ok. area. As I said above, I, and I'm sure MANY of the rest of us who still love that old music would prefer to look at the song in a more positive light than that. |

I beg your pardon. NOT ALWAYS. Yes, I've heard the old 'rock 'n' roll definition 'rockin' in the back seat rollin' down the highway', but there are a lot of songs that the term rock 'n' roll is just talking about dancing. (Twistin' Night Away' and others. And, yes, in the 60's we did call having sex 'balling', but there are also expressions like 'having a 'ball' that have nothing to do with sex. I've loved 'good ol' rock 'n' roll music since I was in grade school, (I'm 66 now) and we didn't see these lyrics as being 'dirty' You can look at them that way if you want to, but, as someone who still loves the 'up-tempo feel good part about that music, i prefer not to. |
