Bruce Springsteen – Drive All Night Lyrics 11 years ago
This song, written by Bruce Springsteen for The River albulm, is one of the best songs written about losing a loved one. This is how I interperate this song which I find very moving. Glen Hansard does a very good cover, especially when he performed it on Late Night with David Letterman.

The first verse establishes that he is suffering from a loss of a loved one. Living through the agony and the pain and wishing for more time.

The chorus is brillant. It simply states he would drive all night to do a simple task, just to have the privlage of sharing time with her.

The second verse is the most interesting and coded verse. As I see it, his loved one pays him a visit, but she is sad because she knows it's temporary. The fallen angles are searching for her to return and he desparetly begs her to not to go to them. When Bruce plays this part live, I feel in his desparation.

The 3rd verse carries on the point that she is being hunted so she can be returned to the other world. But he is insistant she cant be hurt by them because of how much he cares for her.
