| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Quixoticelixer Lyrics | 11 years ago |

This is my line-by-line interpretation of the lyrics “Kick back a little bit just to watch and see Getting sicker by the minute with debauchery” Taking drugs and seeing what happens Becoming sicker and sicker with this behaviour “Whatever your pleasure, I'm your punk On the brink of sinkin', baby, but not yet sunk” Doing absolutely anything to get the next hit About to succumb to the grip of drugs but just holding on “How I listened, lo' when you told me That I was all you had to hold” Listening to his girlfriend when she said he was all he had “I wish it was so when you told me That you were solid gold” He wished that he'd realised how important she was “Gravity-free is she, look at her Highness on a mattress full of anti-matter” Observing that people who aren't on drugs are so much happier Gravity-free, feeling “high” on life “You never left a very mellow impression Your smell, or your "go to hell" expression” Possibly referring to the fights he had with his girlfriend Jennifer? “Quixoticelixer might But it will probably not fix your bite” Quixotic Elixer = Drugs Drugs don't quite give satisfaction “Tell me now, tell me how Did I your lipstick on my kite” Possibly a metaphor for his guilty conscience, seeing a part of her while he's high as a kite? “I love this weather It's a perfect storm” He loves the feeling of being high, despite the fact that it's a storm that will destroy his life “Just keep it coming In its perfect form” He needs more and more drugs “I love this weather 'Cause it keeps me warm” In reference to the fact that being high stops you feeling cold and sick “Just keep it coming In its perfect form” “Everyday depression in a beautiful dress, oh Lady made a beautiful mess I guess” He tries to romanticise his drug use, “putting it in a beautiful dress” “Dedicated mind in a medicated state Is a highly overrated fate” He knows that being on drugs, especially when you've such a determined mindset, is a bad way to go “Terrible, is it so What you told me there is such a thing” Haven't the foggiest what this means “Did you know that you glow when you go From winter into spring?” He's telling her that when she's not angry she's so much more warm and lovable “The madder the boy, the sadder the song” The more depressed he becomes, the more depressing the subject matter of his lyrics becomes “That's a wicked fate but the sick get strong” It's a bad way to go, but people can recover from drug addiction “Nobody's right and everyone's wrong” No one truly understands how he feels about his problems “I refuse to punt on fourth and long” I don't get American football references, sorry “I swear to god I could not hurt you I've got to be inside your virtue I can't contain my urge to search you He doesn't want to upset her with his using. He longs to be 'in her good books' and receive her love, and feels a desire to find out more about how she feels “I stand before; there's now no curfew I long to be inside your virtue My heart is swollen when I search you” His drug abuse has got to the point that there is no limit to what he does, he still longs to receive her love and is glad (or maybe upset?) to see that she cares about him. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Fortune Faded Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I think it's drug addiction again. Think about it: "so divine, hell of an elevator, all the while my fortune faded." He's talking about the drugs and how they made him feel (so divine, hell of an elevator.) Then he says how while he was using everything that he had been fortunate enough to get in his life was fading away (all the while my fortune faded.) Also in "the medicated state of mind you'll find is overrated." Obviously "medicated state of mind" refers to being on drugs. He's saying how it's not worth taking drugs. |

|
"Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic Mr. Know it all" I think Anthony is saying that he wishes that his past self could have seen the damage he was doing himself with drugs (scar tissue that I wish you saw) instead on thinking he's above everyone else and being selfish (sarcastic Mr. Know it all.) He writes a lot about this kind of thing in his book. |

| Biffy Clyro – Machines Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I interpreted "I would dig a thousand holes to lay next to you" as literally digging up graves to find his mother and die next to her... which is chillingly dark yet beautiful in a twisted way. As for the name 'Machines,' I believe it may be in reference to the fact that the human body is merely a machine that eventually breaks down and stops working. | |
| Biffy Clyro – There's No Such Man as Crasp Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
The only possible interpretation of the name that my friend and I were able to come up with after many hours of debating was that Crasp was the name of a friend of the band who had died; thus rendering him non-existent - i.e "There is no such man as Crasp." Or maybe Simon was just high. Probably that. |
