Personally I think that a lot more happened than what Ben told us in the Ev forum in 2010. Obviously more happened, but before you say that Ben has only said good things about Amy, I must remind you of 10.22 being all about Amy. There's a lot neither of them talk about, and while I do think that Ben is making the better decision with not saying anything but good for Amy at this point, Amy doesn't talk about it to begin with. She's only said vague statements, like "We just went in different directions musically" and, "We wanted different things from Evanescence after Fallen". I've never seen an interview where Amy ever calls Ben an asshole. Especially recently, she dodges the question about Ben, whenever someone asks if she's spoken to Ben, her response is simply, "I don't want to talk about why, but no we haven't spoken." I'm with you, I'm tired of Ben being made out to be this big psycho lunatic, but you can't blame that on Amy. She's said it before, the fans tend to make things more dramatic, which is totally and 100% true, when she could say as "I choose not to stay in contact with him for personal reasons," the fans will take that as "I choose not to stay in contact because Ben is a horrible person and hates me and all of you should, too!" On the topic of the song lyrics, most of this is a metaphor. I doubt that Ben ACTUALLY held her down and screamed he wanted her to die, that could be metaphorical for "What happened has made me feel horrible," and because this was written closely to his departure, there are a lot of manic feelings still inside, everyone knows the feeling. When something bad happens between you and another person, you're both heated, you both hate each other. But it's been a decade now, they've both written songs about one another with similar context, but they've both matured by now. Bottom line, I think there's a lot (obviously) they haven't told us, which is fine. But because of that we have no right to judge either of them, we don't know everything that happened, so we shouldn't be forming opinions on who was right and who was wrong. Bottom line. |
