| I agree with you in the overall idea of it being a sad sarcastic vent on his situation and the interpretation of the song. I just interpret the idea of "dirt" as lies. Truth for me would be something clean. "The dirtier the sound the best I breathe" the more they lie to him even though he knows deep down they don't care, the better he feels. Like he rather the lies, the dirty sounds better than the raw truth. | |

I think it is what it says, he enjoys seeing her in that dress. It works for him, maybe even in a innocent tender kind of way. The dress is not something fancy otherwise but he likes it on her and genuinely likes to just watch her on it. Girls not happy with their own looks may find hard to believe their lover don't need but that simple piece of cloth to turn their world. The dress may have a special meaning to them or they simply find that it brings out the features that makes them appreciate their partner better, it could go with their eyes, it could be the dress shape... it doesn't matter, the girl only has to believe in what he's saying and let herself to be admired on it. |
