| I don't think that this song necessarily has to be about someone who has wrecked her. It could also be about self-destruction and self criticism. The lyrics is written in a way so that it could be both, so that everyone can identify with it in some way. | |

I believe that this song is about someone with dreams and visions. Dreams that are hard to reach but is a big part of who they are. "Pick it up, pick it all up. And start again. You've got a second chance, You could go home. Escape it all. It's just irrelevant." The person failed his/her attempt of reaching the dream but is offered a second chance. The alternative that involves giving up exists, but it's just like the text says, irrelevant. "It's just medicine. It's just medicine." I think that the "medicine" in this song is the giving up. It feels good for a second but then the medicine stops working and you're back at square 1. "You've got a warm heart, You've got a beautiful brain. But it's disintegrating, From all the medicine. From all the medicine. From all the medicine. Medicine." All the doubting and giving up is slowly starting to destroy and tear down the person from the inside. The person is turning cold and is slowly losing hope. "You could still be What you want to What you said you were, When I met you When you met me. When I met you." This part just seems like some kind of "pep talk" for the person who is losing hope. |
