Bombay Bicycle Club – Whenever, Wherever Lyrics 10 years ago
She comes alive when she's alone, probably artistic, poetic and a deep thinker. She's very special and he wants to comfort her. Obviously she's sad, probably a victim of depression as obviously he knows she likes to isolate herself but also gets very sad hence her eyes dripping blue. He describes himself as a nightfly looking for sin but always ends up attracted to her bright light instead. He keeps wanting to come back to her, wanting to go back to his special love that he can't seem to let go of like he was describing stubbornly keep on, no room for doubt. But for how long can he keep coming back to what didn't work out before?
Then he goes on to say how he can't let go until he's said all the things he needs to say, stare at her and take it all in, he needs closure to move on. But he told her words that they both wanted to hear. That it would last, that maybe it can still work, "promising someday, whispered so desperately" he wants so bad for it to work but sadly it can't and he knows this but still he keeps going back and forth, trying not necessarily to make it work but to always be there for her, "wherever you want it, whenever you want it." And then finally when he sees how much she truly is bearing and the weight of "the way you hold it all" he sees that no matter how hard he tries it will never be enough.
