Just bought the live version of this (from Pickathon 2019) - from Bandcamp - all proceeds to Navajo nation covid19 relief... This song still thrills me, and I never fail to get teary eyed during the crescendo near the end... Mr Scheidt can twist my heartstrings all right... magnificent... |

One of my favourites off Murder Ballads (favourite is Stagger Lee). Henry Lee Lucas was a serial killer. I doubt very much there's a connection there, and I only thought of it recently when listening to Fantomas' album "Director's Cuts" (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer). |

David Hicks? How so? David Hicks is from Adelaide / South Oz, and his dad is still alive - in fact he was Hicks' staunchest supporter.
This song is so heavily laced with recollections about West Australian metropolitan lifestyles - the story starts off in Perth surburbs... The nutjob who stole the APC from Swanbourne Army Barracks... a "ging" is a WA colloquialism for a slingshot...
It's "generic" urban Australian story, and could be about anyone.
I could be wrong - but it doesn't sounds like David Hicks... |

Disintegration was given to me by my wife and baby daughter, my first ever "Fathers Day Present" (and first Cure CD, previously it was all vinyl), it means a lot to me, and makes me think of my beautiful daughter Lydia who is now 25! We have another daughter, who turned 23 today, all our family are into The Cure.
This is one of my favourite songs on Disintegration, along with probably/possibly track 11 "Untitled"... so hard to pick favourites... |

Favourite Cure song - I love both the original mix, and the remix on "Mixed Up" equally... So it's kinda my 1st and 2nd favourite Cure song.
The narrative could be just quite literal... there may actually be NO metaphors! |

I don't really pretend to know what the song is about - all I know is that it's the song that got me into The Cure... I'd previously heard some of their other songs, liked "Lets Go To Bed" but thought "Love Cats" was silly. But then I heard "The Push" on commercial radio, twice (can't understand why, it was never released as a single) - and after that second hearing, I rushed to a record store (in 1985) and bought Head On The Door. Bought every single Cure album ever since.
I guess this song demonstrated what a f--king brilliant musician Robert Smith really is - this song is kinda "epic" in proportion.
Probably my 2nd or 3rd favourite Cure song (A Forest) is now my favourite...k |

I wonder if the "wrecking ball" is an oblique reference to Dave Elitch's work with Miley Cyrus?
Great song, great band... Can't wait to see them at Soundwave 2015 #SW15 |
