The Killers – Spaceman Lyrics 5 years ago
This is absolutely about a suicide attempt, or suicidal tendencies. The first portion of the song is a little poetry thrown in with some of the procedures done to save you after an attempt.

"You know I'm fine, but I hear those voices at night sometimes" - recovery from depression and thoughts of suicide are a slow, long process of healing. It's been over 10 years ago for me, and sometimes I'll still get the poisonous wavelength of thought that almost put me in the morgue back then. It's NOT like movies and TV, where it just miraculously 'goes away' and you squirt rainbows and hope and sunshine out your arse 24/7. It's zigzaggy and curly and messy as hell.

"And the public don't dwell on my transmission because it wasn't televised" -- how people disregard, or can't seem to comprehend what's eating you because you can't let them in or open to them, or you just don't show the signs and symptoms THEY think a person needing help will. People think depression is "sad, crying and down" and you can "cure" it with love and talking, so they cannot comprehend its reality.

The first time I heard this song, I was at work and it was like getting kicked in the gut. (Apologies if this is a mess, I wrote this on mobile)

John Fred & His Playboy Band – Judy In Disguise (With Glasses) Lyrics 6 years ago
This is a fun, catchy song with very simple lyrics. If you think about it for a moment, the silly lyrics do make a certain degree of sense:

It seems to be about a girl that once was rather plain, but became a new person, and got popular -- lemonade pies, bracelets, and her new 'ra-ras' (new upbeat personality?) 'Cantaloupe Eyes" referencing the popular\common style of glasses worn then, big and round.

"Chimney sweep sparrow with guise" - he still knows just plain-jane Judy under a colorful new guise, and is, or was fond of her before this big overhaul.

Just my take!

Coldplay – Trouble Lyrics 7 years ago
I feel like this is getting into a relationship of any kind that doesn't work out; you have no chemistry and personalities clash too often.

Only now, he's gotten himself trapped in a web he can't escape from -- feelings or dependency, legal, financial, emotional, and he's either reminded by the other person or of his own thoughts of stupid things he's said or done - he can't get away from it and he can't do much to fix it.

So he's stuck somehow not being able to walk away despite being sorry and never having meant to do wrong or cause harm, rooted in place by whatever factors keep him from breaking free of it.
"They spun a web for me..."

Lady A – American Honey Lyrics 8 years ago
I like the "childhood innocence" interpretation and that's all good, but listening to it I always felt like she was singing about a PERSON she was referring to as missing her first love/crush, "American Honey".

"Gotta get back to her somehow..."

It's heartbreaking and bittersweet interpreted like this, but I'm probably overthinking it and adding too much meaning to, as what someone said here, a "fluff filler song" for grocery stores to play.

En Vogue – Giving Him Something He Can Feel Lyrics 8 years ago
I get what stoolhardy is saying and that makes sense, but I think it goes further than that....

...actually if this song ain't about pegging, I have no idea what its purpose is!

The Cure – The Caterpillar Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this is about a manipulative relationship. Caterpillar Girl doesn't realize her 'muchness' - how beautiful she is, ect.

"Dust my lemon lies with powder pink and sweet." He tells her little things that boost her just enough to put her down again, keeping her down, with him, to keep her from flying away. Through everything, she "dusts everything with powder pink and sweet" in his life -- she's "sweet" to him, does everything for him.

"The day I stop's the day you change and fly away from me." The day he stops manipulating her, the day she becomes free and realizes who she is, she becomes a butterfly and flies away from him.

Cocoon – Chupee Lyrics 9 years ago
For me it feels like a phone or Skype conversation, for long-distance relationships (be they close friendships or romantic). The phone-like "Hellos" in the end make me think of that.

Maybe this is just personal, having been in a LDR and "roleplaying" little getaways together would be a way of spending time together, to "take them on a trip" just for a little while by voice and conversation when you can't be side by side.

Because of that, this song makes my heart ache a little.
