This song hits me hard every time I hear it, particularly recently. I think almost everyone can relate to it in some way. I broke up with my ex 5 months ago after he confessed to cheating on me. Since then, he's tried to contact me numerous times, sometimes drunk and sometimes sober. While I'm closer to being over him, I still have unresolved feelings of hurt because he never sincerely apologized. As much as I hate to admit it, it takes every ounce of strength in me to ignore him every time. Whenever I start to forget him, he finds his way back into my life. It's disappointing and hard to accept when people aren't who you thought they were. That's what this song is about. |

I just heard this song the other day in the gym for the first time and man, did it take me back a few months. This song definitely addresses something that happens a lot when cheating occurs: blame on the circumstances (alcohol, the environment , etc) rather than an acceptance of responsibility, as Chmmr mentioned! My ex tried this on me a few months ago when he confessed to cheating. He found a way to blame his actions on anything else so that the responsibility wouldn't fall back on him and his own issues. As with the last few lines of the song, the cheater usually always come back begging for forgiveness! It doesn't always mean they've taken responsibility for their past decisions and hurt they've caused though. |
