For me it's all about the sense people want usually give to their life. Actually we are spinning out, going nowhere, working up to nothing that can really matter or change the circuit of our leaving, because at the end of the day we are simply heading back to where we was born, our initial place. For me it's all about something that was dangerous to do when you were young. but when you're young I can do whatever dangerous thing you want, obviously if you can remind them afterward then you have survived to them, and that's the song. The water is the heroin, in many r.e.m. Songs there's a continuous recall to the water, as a prime element but also, beneath an underlying meaning, as the usual solvent for mixing the heroin and your blood. So the recklensess, so they can't see me naked, as one is after a good strike of hero, cause it smashes you so deeply that whatever you wear you appear to be just as naked as your body and soul. The photograph is taken years ago, now I'm a different man that can laugh underneath my breath watching to the lights joking with my memories, on this running dashboard of my life. Cause it's me that's driving now, and no one else. Neither the hero can. But you can expand the rhimes here and see many other dangerous and addicting things you have escaped from when walking through the walk of your life. That bride tide, forever young, will be along with you forever, if you've survived in the early times. The gut of living, of getting by, of resiliance, of whatever can put you in a place and moment of your life, deserving a quiet night to the memories and to the nightswimming. That's what this song is for me and maybe for no one else in the world. |
