Waiting for a beam to break through here A chain way vision, all bright and clear And they talk and they dance (Took some sort of psychedelic drug for the first time, waiting for effect. Thinking about things she's heard other people describe, as well as how fun it suddenly is to dance and talk.) I was expecting something pure with a golden hair Arms full of bracelets and smoke in the air And they talk and they dance (Expecting to see a God/Godess, like other people on the same drugs, imagining to see it when she's dancing and talking) Here comes darkness, just afternoon Waiting for a sign If I survive, I'll worship the moon Or something, anything (The trip goes bad. Horrible thoughts visit her, she wants it to be gone, and if she survives this, she vows she'll do anything) This must be it, long for bliss First it was so quiet And now I know I'm not alone in here And they talked and they danced (Her head is quiet until the drug takes effect, she feels she isn't alone in her head, hearing voices and stuff. She can't understand how other people are able to dance and talk on this drug.) Two elements, collide in my open hand Making me a viewer, I am water and sand And they talk and they dance (She becomes entranced by things she sees around her, in her hands. Patterns and such, I suppose. She feels outside herself, still wondering how people are able to talk and dance while high on this) Your hand on my hips, speak friendly to me I've been studying for years, patiently Is this as far as you can take me? (Maybe someone wants to dance with her? The drug? A person? In any case she is mildly disappointed at the drug, since she's been studying its effects for years and this was a bad experience) - - - This is my interpretation because SWIM might have experienced JUST that, exclaiming a loud 'Oh, shit!' upon reading these lyrics. |
