| Dance Gavin Dance – Pounce Bounce Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| From what I understand, it's a self-esteem song. One of many inner insecurities. "What's it like to be a marble? " Asking what it's like to be perfect or better. Feeling as if he is confined to a certain role and following rules "She's a referee." The line about "wood to linoleum" connects with the line of "kush and bubblegum" in meaning he prefers the effects of the real herb to its counterpart. The chorus about being "run down" and needing more in his veins and the "quota and balancing act" has to do with having enough to not feel like a loser among better people but not so much that he can't function properly. And the "whispers" that "drill the pain of second place" are his inner demons that often remind him of his shortcomings and insecurities. And really the whole song is like a battle between his thoughts and his outer actions in accordance to them. | |
