First let me say this is one of my all-time favorite songs, but you're reading waaay too much into the lyrics. Many of the Wolf Parade songs have deeper meanings and deal with ghosts and the dead and whatnot...but this is not one of them. Some of the "dead" lyrics imho are incorrect, as in "the EYES are dead, but the body don't mind". "drive west until we ran out of land" "We walked five whole minutes To the dark edge of town Took a long look at nothing And turned back around" Now what activity can you do whilst both driving and walking to the dark edge of town? And why would you look at nothing and turn back around? Exactly. So smoke 'em if you got 'em. |
