In my opinion this screams suicide. And there is tonnes of proof in the lyrics! "I know you said you'll miss me. But I know that you won't. Because time is like a wave, that washes the pain away." To me this means that, even though she will miss him and does love him, where he is so tied up being angry and annoyed with himself, he doesn't even realize it. He thinks that time will just take away the pain, the hurt of him being gone, but really she will die inside too because she loves him more than he knows. "I know I said I'll see you. When it gets to New Year. But now that all the rain stopped falling. All I think is getting out of here." He understands he promised to be there for her at New Year (maybe they had planned something?) but he can't keep that promise anymore, because he just wants to leave. He has had enough. He wants to commit suicide and he will probably do as planned :( "I know I'd be welcome but tell me how far. Ceremonial knocks sound the gaps in my heart-beat." He is saying he knows that one day all of this pain will go away, but how far. Why is it taking so long? (the only way to resolve this is to commit suicide.) Death is merging into his heart and he is letting it.He is letting the will to live, die before his eyes. The part of the lyrics where he says "I'll never be good enough for you or for me," suggest that he is not satisfied with himself, and he knows that he is not good enough anymore. He doesn't deserve to live, or that is what he is telling himself. "I've buried my pride, I've buried my key," really suggests that he has no pride left and that is his fault. I've buried my key really implies that he will be burying all the secrets and lies with him when he commits suicide. He will be burying all the hatred for himself - he will be doing everyone a favor. I hope this helped :) I think that my interpretation is nearly correct, but i don't really know? Thank you for reading!! |

I think this is all about a man who always kisses and then runs. He always has one nights stands, and has meaningless sex with any fit girl. "Hold tight for heartbreak. Buckle up for loneliness. Right time to get away. Where I'm going I couldn't care." These lyrics suggest that he is telling the girl, after this, you will just be lonely and sad again, because there is no way i am staying with you. I am only in it for the sex. And that he always gets away at the perfect time, so no strings are attached. He doesn't care where he is going next. He only cares about himself. "I'm bored and I'm afraid. I'm falling like rain for you," in my opinion this implies that he is afraid, because he is starting to fall in love with one of his one night stands, which has never happened before. "Bad sex and ethanol," as the sex is meaningless and he never actually loves the person he is having sex with, it can sometimes be bad. And ethanol is alcohol, so this obviously means, that along side the sex, he also drinks away his problems. Now the chorus is quite interesting, it could have many meanings, but to me there is only one that seems to fit perfectly..."Can anybody hear me? Is anybody out there? Not a soul in a streetlight. This might be love .This might be love." To me this means that he has fallen in love (this might be love) and doesn't know how to deal with it, so he asks for help. "Not a soul in a streetlight" means no one can help. they tell him to deal with it and stop running for love and enhance it! "Calls that are Long overdue," always reminds me of phone sex. When he can't be bothered to have sex with another women, he just has phone sex, which always ends being way longer than he expects. "Cheap highs," might mean that all the fun from sex is always cheap yet always enjoyable. I hope this helped, i am not sure whether my interpretation of this song is right, but it seems to fit-ish? Thank you for reading! :) |
