Okay I've studied the chef for years, ima explain for y'all whats down in his rae raes kitchen: "Yo, yo, Iron Chef (gracias)" Raekwons common used nickname is the chef, and "iron" is refering to Ghostface Killah who was a feature on this track. He was common on Rae raes debut and on the album this song is on (Only built 4 cuban linx pt.2) Starting of Rae is talking with his drug man, they are dealing. "I need some of that, (slide through the back)" Raekwon is talking about the drugs, aka bricks, aka cocaine. So his man if offering him to go to the back of the store as stated later on in the intro. "We got some culinary cats right here, we need you (we'll kill him if he fault)" When dealing drugs you want shit to come correct, nahm mean? No snitching and make sure to use the rhight amount of that caine. "Ayo, rappers stepping to me, they want a brick, son But I'm the Chef, my price is 26, son" First of all for all of you newbies, this is Rae paying homeage to a man, a man who is the reason your favourite rapper aproached the mic differently, Big Daddy kane. The line was from "aint no half steppin", it went like this: "Rappers stepping to me, they wanna get some, but im the kane so yo, you know the outcome" Raekwon is continuing his drug and mafiaso persona with the drug talk. A brick usually costs 20 k or 22 k, but Rae rae only got the finest caine, so his price is more expensive. "Move up, about 32 of those and open locker dough Soldier got locked up, blow killed the doctor" Chiefs caine is so good, it deserves a even higher price and ofcourse he wants to hide it. Soldier can mean a person in the ghetto who stays strong and blow is slang for caine, so lets put this metaphor short: Some brothers got caught tryna get some, ofcourse they want it, even the doctors who are all about staying healthy couldnt resist neither, but it was so great, that they got amazed. "Flamboyant police is X fives, watching my lofts So many leeches I just left it and walked My flow wicked, Miami money, moving and ridicly" Btw, "ridicly" is actually "ridicule". Anyways, rae is talking bout escaping, cops was watching his spot., so many chased him, he just left his money. When he says "my flow wicked" he is ofcourse talking about his cashflow. Amount of money he has. THe money he getting is wicked since it came from selling drugs. The miami money is just a way of saying alot of money. When he says moving he is refering to moving bricks, selling drugs in other words and ridicule is getting away the drugs. He left his money so now he needs more money. "Geico on the arm froze, rose gold with me" Rae has expensive clothing and just expensive things due to his drug dealing. "Take baths with white women, lingerie see-through" Lingerie can be womens underwear, continuing the "take baths with white women part", Rae is giving vivid pictures of what the time on the streets has given him. Some nice ladies. I will explain more tomorrow, Hope I gave you a better understanding of Rae's use of slang and way of rapping. |
