I'm shocked there are no comments for this song. In my opinion this by far one of the best Zep III songs. The melody alone makes my head spin with memories of days ago. I especially love the comparison of past to present, the soothing country to the hectic life of the city, and how too many people forgot how to take in a beautiful day and just relax with nature abound. I love every Led Zep song but this is top of my favorites list. |

I'm with you catherineks...that stanza hits me in a way that millions of thoughts explode through my head. I especially relate to the whole song because I feel it describes me. Always putting myself aside to be there or help everyone else. I usually say what's bothering me through hints or notions. And I keep my anger in...smoldering after the fact. This whole album, no all of their albums are awesome. |

| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Crazy Life Lyrics

In 1973 the American Indian Movement seized Wounded Knee demanding senate investigations to Indian Problems. It got ugly...ywo Native Americans were killed and several others wounded. Peltier was (if I'm correct) the, if not one the leaders of this and was arrested. Broken promises were again made by our government. So I believe he was making a statement about the mistreatment Native Americans especially Peltier have been subjected to just for fighting for what they believe in. |

I'm taking a chance here but in my opinion i would say i agree with davkay and bobo but to add to this, the reference to the circus freak and cages and snares...i get the idea he's saying those, who live the cushy life, get a kick at wathcing those who struggle through life to make a living even if they're (the freaks in the cages and snares) not proud of what they have to do to get by. To them that's all they are. Also those who have struggled to get there have forgotten where they started from and become the person watching the circu for entertainment. I hope i made this understandable. |

I've loved toad since i discovered bread and circus years ago. however this is my favorite album since i can personally relate to a lot of the songs. This one especially..."back at the homestead where the air makes you choke...people dont know you and trust is a joke" that's prety much what i feel when i do decide to visit home. Anyway to all the toad lovers peace god bless and even though they broke up they'll live forever ... |
