Everyone seems to be missing the essence of the song, which is less about drugs /ADD and more about personal responsibility and agency. "This is how I show my love" : Ironic because he is referring to his own self-destructive behavior. The reason he says "maybe" is because he doubts the his own sincerity, being vaguely aware that these are rationalizations and not real explanations of his life. The line "sail" is intriguing because, metaphorically, it is not "sinking" or failure that it refers to but rather just letting things in life coast on or "sail" as they are. A life by course rather than choice. It's about how the modern world provides us with excuses that rob of us of our own ability to see ourselves capable of steering the boat rather than merely sail through. |
