This song is about one of the lead singers falling in love, and relates this to the zodiac. I did a little research, the lead singer happens to be a Leo which means his astrological sign is the Lion. "I am a million pieces in the sky" - The lead singer is Leo, the lion constellation. "I found a way to be alone" - He feels alone without companionship (possibly a relationship where the love of his life broke up with him) "Until you finally decide to come home" - this confirms what I stated above, the lead singer had his heart broke by the love of his dreams, and he is waiting for her to return. "Diamonds, diamonds, are you all in the sky?" - He relates to all the women around him as different stars and astrological constellations. Questioning if they are really as beautiful as they look (emphasizing that stars resemble diamonds) "I can't believe all of these beautiful lies" - He goes on to say that they are all not as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside "As they surround me I will take a photograph of the sky" - He's saying that he has met many of these women and made memories with them. "Bury me, bury me alone in the light" - He's saying that he is trying to move on, he's seeing other women as a method to cope and help himself forget about his true love, even though he is still in love with her. (note how it says ALONE in the light) "I am going to run this just like a lion" - he's saying that he is going to be a strong man and get through the heartbreak. He is praying for her sweet return, but in the meantime he uses empty relationships to cope with his heartbreak. " I sit here and wait, but I want this to be over" - He wants the pain to end, he wants his true love back but he fears she will never return and is giving up. "I saw her smiling on the top of the world, lower me down" - He's referring to his love as another constellation that sits closer to earth and further away from him. He wants to be close to her again, asking and begging to be lowered down closer. Anyway, this is my interpretation. It's definitely a love story, and the fact that the lead singer is a Leo is quite interesting. It's an astrological love story. |
