I think this song is about two people in a relationship and one is severely depressed and uses drugs or alcohol as a form of escapism, but they usually take it too far and end up fainting and becoming unconscious which is where "oblivion" comes in. The singer also takes part in the consumption of the drugs/alcohol but knows their limits and doesn't want to cross that line, also can they can see what it does to the other person so stops before it happens to them hence "I turn back when I see where you go". |

I think this song is about the fears of being away from home for a long time (the great unknown), perhaps for an amazing opportunity, but can feel the draw of being at home where everything's familiar and they feel safe. |
