Lana has said that because of her serious musical style everything she says the media take seriously when in actual fact a lot of what she says is satirical, ironic or sarcastic, like in this case. She has been slated for being material obsessed and I think this song is so obvious it is actually obviously sarcastic, especially the "dope and diamonds that's all I am" part. Also the land that's far away refers to heaven and her life style is not very Christian(drugs, sex, rock and roll) so she doubts her and her love will get to it. |

If you've seen the music video you'll see Lana with a young man in the verses and an older man in the chorus. She has said in an interview the verses represent her real life, hanging with her friends on the beach, and the chorus represents her dreams and more desired life. The man in the video is actually meant to be her tattoo artist and she has said she wanted the video to be more dream like when he was on screen to show this better but the director took a different path. She has also stated that dreams are very important to her and that she is a big dreamer. |
