I think this is a song about someone who in love with a girl, but at the same time he's pitying that girl. Or maybe hate the girl? Then she took advantage from this girl. Realizing it, the girl then left without saying good bye. Which make the guy both angry and sad. "You can run away leave your books behind you but you should look back twice just to be on the safe side" He's trying to say "You can leave but be careful, you might regret it." Not like he's trying to threatening her, but to remind her that she might regret the loss of the guy. In other way, the guy secretly wanted her to think twice before leave. "you are just like an avalanche cold as I might have guessed but at least I am covered up for now" He feels anger toward the girl, he blames the girl. And he's trying to say that he doesn't really care. "In a big, big way I am really small I get off my feet But i'm still distant" He feel regret and small, he's trying to get over it but it's still a long way to go. "Don't you just love goodbyes?" A cynical comment about their break up. He's laughing in pain at his own break up. "Most of our lives we try so hard to find the time I won't care for you like I'm really supposed to there are things I'll do that could really hurt you" I don't really understand it. But i think he's trying to pretend that he's strong and don't care about her. He tries to show her that he's actually the one who left her because he's dangerous. Or, he let her go because he knows though he loves her, if they still together he would still taking advantage from her and would hurt her more than this. |
