The lyrics of this song destroy me independently of the music.
The music destroys me because of the end of the Mistaken For Strangers doc. The main riff is played on a loop as it was bring demoed at the time, as Matt makes his "loser" brother feel better. It's an amazing emotional climax to the film.
The lyrics destroy me because of personal experience. I am sort of mad that they played it as their second song on their most recent SNL performance. I nearly had a breakdown listening to the song at work earlier that week, so them playing this over Graceless snuck up on me. |
