I don't necessarily think it's about suicide. "I turn myself into an angel" and "I run myself into the ground" kind of make me think it's not suicide per say but a destructive lifestyle in which you don't care whether you live or die that most likely will eventually lead to your death. Drug abuse, doing destructive activities, or just not caring about consequences are all ways to "run yourself into the ground" without actually committing suicide. It's also possible because I live this lifestyle that I wan't the words to fit into place for me. But that's the great thing about music, it can mean what the listener wants it to mean. I also think that "I leave myself behind in pieces" doesn't necessarily mean himself literally but his persona. When someone dies their belongings are left behind and we piece together what we really know about them by going through their things. If you've ever done this you know that you will learn a lot about someone that you've known for years and years that you never knew. Their belongings are little bits and pieces of their personality, their likes and interests personified in the items they chose to surround themselves with. |
