Yes while the lyrics of this song are direct references to Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher the reason behind it is much more interesting (at least to me). This is song is actually a response to the aggressive resurgence of Thatcherism in the UK and the intense deification of Reagan by the majority of the US republican party. I love this song as it definitely has the feel of mid eighties political hardcore (albeit much more sonically polished), but I feel it could of hit harder by referencing these to figures views on homosexuals which were extreme, disgusting, and disturbing even for that time during the eighties. |
