I may be one of the people that is as ridiculous as this song entails. I believe the song is talking about this guy having a "love at first sight" moment, thinking all about them, how they'll be like, what a cute couple you'll be, etc. Nearly obsessing thoughts about the person, yet in reality, you don't even know their name. After a couple of heartbreaks, people can start easily attaching to people just in hope of finding "the one". That is my interpretation, at least. I am most definitely one of the people who do this anyway. |

| This song is definitely the description of many people in first world countries. They're in their own little bubbles. They don't think or care what's happening outside of the borders. They dont want to deal with the chaos, crisis and terror happening outside their home. They ignore it, and that's exactly what this song is pointing out. The men all on the news, they try to tell us all that we will lose. Explosions on TV, and all the girls with heads inside a dream. Nothing's wrong when nothing's true. Make believe it's hyper real. I live in a hologram with you. It's all showing how they want, and pretend to view the world as perfect, when in reality it isn't. | |

| I find how Marina's other songs in the album, "Electra Heart", really spotlight rejection, hurt, and scarring. This song, in my opinion, closely relates to "How to be a Heartbreaker", but in this one she details her struggles a bit more. In "Homewrecker", she expresses how she felt as though she was losing her fight with love. She moves from boyfriend to boyfriend, thinking that each one is "the one", until she's proven wrong by heartbreak. She has a difficult time sticking to boyfriends, as the good ones are never easy to get, and the easy ones are never good in the end. She's gotten almost to the point of being sick and tired of relationships, and she now becomes the heartbreaker (homewrecker) of the relationship in order to save herself from rejection. Even so, deep down inside she wants to start over, and she wants true love to happen to her to fulfill her dreams. | |
