Phoenix – Rome Lyrics 10 years ago
The thing about Phoenix is they know how to make you feel the meaning without having to overanalyze. When I first heard this song when it came out I immediately could relate it back my relationship. Always and forevermore got to me, because those are common lines we used but the relationship was so dreadful it didn't hold the same significance. They certainly know how to make a person nostalgic of some good, but remember everything else that went along with things like the dishonesty and hurt feelings.

Phoenix – The Real Thing Lyrics 11 years ago
Well Lancelot was the kings man who betrayed king authur thus destroying his relationship. Salomé is a biblical reference to erotic dancing and lust. So pretty much this girl is trouble- everyone's warned him but now he sees the chaos she's created--"pour lava in the ocean". Pretty much she's doing it because she's bored and has this "power" he missed. I think he's asking her to surrender herself sort of, like he finally understands what she's doing with him now admit it.

Phoenix – S.O.S. in Bel Air Lyrics 11 years ago
I think it's sort of like he's at the end of his relationship but still holding onto hope. "Can't cross the line" like he can't end it but wants to so he feels alone. "Crystal or bamboo" the contrast between what the relationship looks from the outside to what it really is. And like the other person said "SOS in bel air" trouble in paradise- - people think it looks good but it's far from good.
