| The Mariner connection is definitely there, and probably what the song was actually intended to be about, but I feel like the "weight of living" is the burden that we all, as people, carry on our shoulders. The weight of dreams that we once and the loss of innocence in "Can you stand the person you've become?" When we look back on how we've lived, we realize that what we have done could have always been done better; with more effort, in a way. The albatross is hovering above every one of us, taunting us in the fact that our short, single lives were wasted if we haven't done anything truly worthwhile. | |
