Two interpretations from me: 1) I like to think this song's origins came from when Lights was a little kid. Evidence 1: Beginning (we're leaving town when we get old enough). Evidence 2: During the bridge (we sound young and naive). If you think about it, this is one of those "I'm gonna make it big one day, just wait and see" kind of songs. Maybe she had a best friend who thought the same way and this was their pick-me-up song as youngsters. 2) Similar to my first interpretation, but more spiritual-oriented. She's looking towards the heavens and wondering about her purpose on Earth. She is reminded that in time, she will be bright like those "rolling volcanoes" and "meteorites". |
