It's actually about shoplifting. He addresses the lovelorn loser who's life has no meaning who gets caught. The push and shove of the store detective who demands he hand over the fruits of his crime that he holds secluded under his jacket, or down his trousers. The embarrasment is typically Morriseyesque. The Alabaster magistrates's gavel comes down and he gets 6 months in jail. He's not really a bad person and it is,really just a cry for help. He just wants love. He might feel, in some way that he is beating the system. But he's on to a losing game and really he and his other secret criminals would do better to unite together and stop the real criminals, who we see planning our downfall on our TV sets. |
