| I think this is a wonderful interpretation of Rolling Stone. Before I read the above entry, I didn't have a clue, other than some girl in college who used to get drunk, now was out of college and having difficult times. But all the details from the above entry are really enlightening to me. Read in the newspaper today in the story about the $2 million sale of Dylan's first draft of that song, that the song was about a socialite who lost her status. I thought, that was a real person, the song was about a real person? And it set to wondering more about the lyrics, and that sent me to this website. Thanks to the above contributor. The others are interesting too, show many people have an interest in this. | |

I think it's wonderful that Bob Dylan took one of the worst moments and times of his life, his girlfriend dumping him according to the 2nd interpretation or so of his song, Rolling Stone, and turned it into the best song in the history of Rock and Roll, according to what I heard a year ago. The interpretation of the song by the second or so interpreter is fascinating. I had no clue as to what more than a few of the lines meant, other than maybe this woman who was out of college had hit the skids. But Dylan sings the song with real gusto, and the words and the lines are very sharp, knowing now that those were real life situations for him. Again, he took pure pain and turned it into pure genius. Showing that when life hands us a difficult time, maybe it's the start of something better, than if it didn't happen. The song is fascinating, but the story of the song is equally as fascinating. Thanks to this website and its contributors for explaining how this song got to be. Now I want to look at what's the story behind many other songs. I've always wanted to know. |
