What a great groove! Songwriting was still in effect at this point (1978?). I've picked out the lyrics over the years. Today I actually paid attention to them all, uninterrupted. To my ear they are all self-explanatory save for one; "Dime in the socket". A pinball reference, perhaps. Except this is disco and you're not fooling me. I know which dime and what socket. smh |

We gave it a try. It hasn't worked out. Again. (He may be a bit insecure). So just go back to being single or back with the one you really love because we are just hurting each other. We have a loving connection but we can't get to that next step together. |

Dudes, If I may.
Guy has Girl. Girl is fine. Guy is paranoid. Guy has friends. Guys like Girls ergo, friends like Guy's Girl. Friends like girl so much so they go to guys' house when he is not there. Here they jab the proverbial knife in Guy's back.
Let's remember that this is only one side of the story. There are four sides to every story. |

Man, this whole record is great but this one... very close to home and just so good. with Kurt Vile, the guitars and the backing vocals, the LYRICS. So real, they hurt. A beautiful tune. |
