I've certainly felt this way on acid and ecstasy trips. If we free our minds in some way, it is easy to feel the things he is singing about. Just drift a bit and take things as they come with no judgement or heavy introspection. |

I have to wonder if the woman who wants the 'young American' is British. 'Where are all Dad's heroes' suggests that America was seen as a hero during WW2 in Europe and that the whole image of young men fighting or resisting war in the 60's and 70's kind of changed--to say the least. Drugs, maybe heroin, are suggested by 'look at your hands shake'. ---Funny, doesn't seem at all like you would address an American as "wanting another American" and try to make a point. It suggests more, someone of another nationality wanting the 'young' American. And, so much emphasis is placed on 'young'---it seems to suggest that the British's impression of Americans has changed with the image of the youth of the 70's. |
