I think it's actually quite a bit more geeky than that. Things exist in all possible states until observed. Which would explain the comment about the light bulbs washing up on the beach - a reference to the electron 'cloud' in the standard atomic model? "She wants to meet her fate, but travel by free will But you can’t have both and you can’t stand still, still, still" A reference to not being able to simultaneously know the position and the velocity of subatomic particles, because the act of observing them changes the velocity. SFK were school friends, so I suspect this was written in science class. :) |
