The word after "we were tired from the" and "being tired from the" is actually "tea", not "sleep". Jo (bassist of the Breeders) mentioned that when she was talking to Kim about the lyrics she "rather liked the scene she depicts of an afternoon spent drinking tea and playing Scrabble." She then said that Kim paused, then explained "it was mushroom tea...". |

This is from Jim Greer's blog (Kim's fiancé in the 90's): "Trivia for Breeders fans: the line "Motherhood means mental freeze" from the song "No Aloha" on Last Splash (whose full title, by the way, is in fact The Breeders' Last Splash but most people don't bother about that) was taken from graffiti in one of the communal bathrooms that Cro-Mag shared with whatever other artists/artisans/drug dealers that worked out of the Front Street complex. Kim spent a lot of time in the bathroom not because she drank too much beer while recording, although she did drink her share, but because the vocals sounded really good in there, so she made John run a mic down the hall and into the bathroom. The rest of the song is about me." |
