I feel like 'Do I wanna know?' is about emotions towards a girl. Perhaps he has realised that he could be feeling something more towards her and if he had the chance he could fall in love with her. Furthermore I don't think this is about the physical aspect of a relationship but the emotional and mental side. "How many secrets can you keep?" clearly if you know someone for quite a while, you begin to trust them which in time leads you to tell them secrets. Perhaps this was a fundamental reason that he has developed feelings for her. I think the song is titled 'Do I wanna know' because he is asking himself whether he wants to know whether they have a mutual attraction or whether she will reveal she does not like him and that they cannot be together. You could perceive it as him being scared that this perfect girl does not feel the same. Perhaps these two could be good friends which may have led him to fall in love or become infatuated with her. He could be infatuated with this girl rather than actually developing serious feelings for her as he is not able to distinguish love and infatuation and clearly puts them under the same category. "I dreamt about you nearly every night this week" The links to the theme of sleep and in other words an altered consciousness. There are some theories that sleep is linked to memory or in other words reflecting on the day or things in your subconscious. Perhaps he is constantly thinking about this girl so much that it becomes normal for him to dream about her. By doing this he may be exaggerating an imaginary relationship with her too thus increasing his urge to feel infatuated with this girl. |
