Since the first time i heard it, I felt like the music line was about teasing and excitement, kept under wraps. After better listening to the lyrics, I figured the song could be about a secret love affair that takes place every other weekend (3 days - that's Fri/Sat/Sun). The direct and personal confession "It's just my nature/ I ruin love" suggests it's a recurrent behaviour and brings about the idea that his/her unfaithfulness detroys both spouse and lover. "I'm famished / So I'll eat your minerals" sets from the word go a very strong intention of devouring the so-used-to-being-devoured-secret-lover. Minerals are good for health and revitalizing, yet their structure is frail. Such a ferme declaration, about bounding cells and minerals, is very intimate, so it may convey that the lovers have had some history together and the remains still come up from time to time. This is also suggested by the lines "Love is terminal not built to last/ Burn bright burn fast". The definite article in "(...) those bloody sheets" shows familiarity, recurrence and irritation, as if the lover is stuck in his mistress' bed which he cannot escape. Still, he's hypnotized and frantic with this state, as he keeps repeating madly: "We got three days to feel each other, we got three days to sing this song". |
