Johnny Ringo, I suppose, is dying. And as he's dying, the Devil comes across him with an offer to give him another life, as one of the devil's minons. (This is your time, Your life's flashing before your eyes. And soon enough you will realize that this is goodbye, but what if I gave you a chance? You just have to sell your soul.) In the next stanza, the Devil is bribing Johnny to sell his soul. (Look around, what do you see? The choices you never had the guts to make? I'm sorry you never could be the man that you wanted, but regret is wasted on me.) And Johnny accepts the Devils offer. (I can feel air inside my lungs again. All because of you. I can rebuild my life and start again. All because of you.) In the next stanza, he's elated that he is alive again, that he has cheated death. (I can feel air inside my lungs again. All because of you. I can rebuild my life and start again. All because of you.) This is where the Devil is warning Johnny that the gift he has been given has is ever so bittersweet. (This feeling's amazing, I know. But be careful, you know not what you wish for. Granted life but now you've cheated death. There's no where to run when you run from yourself.) The same applies to the next stanza. (But fear not for as long as you live you are mine, and even in death you will find. You've lived with regret for so long but now, is your chance to change what has been wrong.) And in the next original stanza, the Devil is mocking Johnny for his ignorance and overtrusting. (Don't ever trust the devil, bitch!) Now Johnny is realizing his brutally ignorant mistake. (I never wanted this. •It's time that you suffered the consequence.• I should have know my time was up. I crave you your time, and now your soul is mine.) And now, as the Devils Minion (Which is later discovered in Johnny's Revenge - the sequel to Johnny Ringo - is a vampire) he is being dragged to Hell. (I can't feel air inside my lungs. I'm dead. All because of...) Summary : Johnny Ringo is dying. Satan offers him a deal. Another life for his soul. Johnny accepts. Johnny's screwed over, and is dragged to hell as a vampire. |

This is just my idea - He fell in love with a girl, roughly two years ago. Both of them suffer depression, but she likes to surround herself with thoughts that they're going to be okay. She believes if she thinks this enough it'll come true. But he's more of a realist. He knows they're falling apart. He knows she's slipping away. He's hurting her severely "Let me in again," "I'll be who I was then,". And she leaves him. It kills her, because oh his Darling Doll still loves him. And secretly, he's always loved her. Now his Light - (When light becomes absent, there is darkness - hence (Lead Me Out Of The Dark) has left him, he's more depressed than before (A fragile state of mind I can't quite survive) And two years pass by. She's guarded, he hurt her. He's grown up, and he knows he still needs her. So in this song he's begging for her. He's looking for his Light again. (I'm lost, please help me find my place) In the song, towards the end, you can hear rain in the background. This represents the tears falling, the depression the two of them have endured. To remind you, this is only my thought of the song meaning. Just a tragic love story. |
