Dark stars are ____objects (possibly stars, they don;t know) that give off little light, so even the ____slightest presence of them "lit my night up". *6* The light you gave off is dimming; or, in literal terms, there isn't even a slightest presence anymore *7* You brought out a part of me that I thought was gone forever. *8* I was feeling lost and alone before you came to save me. *9* I feel secure enough just staring at you, knowing that you're here and alive *10* Out of no where, you left me. *11* The fact that you're gone is the reason for why I'm in pain, and the antidote ____is your presence once again. *12* You (a ship) are leaving my life (sinking) but I can't let go of the idea of you. *13* You guided me and instantly vanished *14* self explanatory *15* (see 5) *16* (see 6) *17* (see 7) *18* (see 8) *19* (see 9) *20* (see 10) *21* I might as well be blind without you. I can't do a thing without your help. *22* You were all I had in this world. *23* (see 5) *24* (see 6) *25* *26* *27* (see 9) *28* (see 10) Overall, I'm not exactly sure what the story is, but I think it's either about suddenly being dumped by someone who you thought it was going great with, or it's about losing someone to death (where it says "I could lie awake just to watch you breathe, that could mean that, at this point, just knowing that they're not dead is comfort enough) ("sinking ship" and "dark star" could both mean that death was slowly approaching and life was fading). Either way, it's about losing the only one that really mattered to you. (note: I copied and pasted the lyrics and I'm too lazy to review, so I apologize if I missed a correction) |

| I think the song is about guilt; making mistakes in the past that have hurt people. He's hurting himself (possibly cutting, but I'd guess generally beating himself (mentally, physically, socially, verbally, etc.)) because he has ruined his own life and can't forgive himself. He has driven everyone away for selfish reasons, but now he realizes that what he wanted never truly mattered ("my empire of dirt"). Now he's at the point of trying to forget reality: drugs. | |
