I know what this song is about, near death. However, I got out of a relationship with a sociopath. Six months of my life being fed lies, abused, taken advantage of. It was hell. What is most difficult was realizing that that person felt nothing for no one, that people to him were toys for his amusement until he got bored or a better toy came along. Our relationship, a lie. His love for me, a lie. All of it a lie. So knowing what this song was about to Josh who wrote it and what it means to me... a man consumed by his emptiness who's life is a well constructed lie to hide the truth about him. That he is a vampire. That his flesh and blood is only from those he steals it from. That his reality is that if cut, all he bleeds is sand. That he is a hollow shell, an ornately painted decorative egg for show and his hell is to exist in a world that ultimately means nothing to him and that he means nothing to in return. So to you Ed, hooray, your alive... you feel no love. |

| Where did my father find this photograph? What happened to the person that I knew, the spite, the narrowed eyes? She was beautiful in this picture. So what happened? How did she go from this beauty to such a cold angry person? There used to be a whole person here, the proof is in the pictures, prehistory tacked up in Polaroid. I think this song is about who a person was, and how we remember that person. Something happened to this woman, she became embittered, unhappy, but there was a time when she wasn't, when she was beautiful. Whoever she was, that happy beautiful person did not survive. I think this song is also tipping it's hat at a family surviving a death of someone who through the course of dyeing was bitter and hateful, who required having to "make the best of it". | |
