| Beach House – Troublemaker Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I think this song has to do with breaking up with a person and coming to regret the decision later in life, and being reminded of them makes you feel ill physically and mentally. Their face makes you feel to the point where you would cry, to the point where being without them changes your life. Depressing stuff. |

| Talk Talk – After The Flood Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I think this song is quite literally about rapture itself. He talks about the decadent society being wiped out by the flood (angels and the horsemen). The people are characterized as soulless, and bags of flesh that are idolaters who blame others for their mistakes. At the end the character is in disarray over what happens, and is a testament to what occurred. I believe at the end he is giving thanks to God for life, and to remember to follow his way of life he set for us. This entire album deals with the subject, and nature of God, as well as the bible. |

| Talk Talk – Ascension Day Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I think the song is about redeeming oneself for their past sins and ascending to heaven, hence the title "Ascension day." Bet I'll be damned Built the debt I turned 2's up today Bet I'll be damned Gets harder to sense to sail Farewell fare well Mother numb to & devout to Reckon luck sees us the same Weighted my hand Kill the bet I'll burn on judgement day Weighted my hand Get hard hit to sin to sail "Bet I'll be damned today, built the debt." Is an example right here. The character believes that he is an evil person who can only keep doing evil, that they can't find peace in their lives, and surely enough by the end, he finally does. |

| Radiohead – Codex Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| My favourite album by them, it's so beautiful, and heavily focused on texture and tone. You can definitely spot the post-rock influence they got from other bands like Tortoise and Talk Talk. | |
| Slint – Good Morning, Captain Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I've finally understood this song after 10 listens. The Captains family had died a long time ago, leaving the Captain lonely, and bitter throughout his life, so when he died from the storm, and woke up he was dead, and saw his son for the first time in ages, but is unable to be with him due to his actions when he was alive which leads to the "I miss you" being repeated. The storm is a metaphor for death. The only not so depressing song on this album was Breadcrumb Trail. |
